What happens in a session

Initial telephone chat:

Prior to booking a session we will have an initial chat; this will be your opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have and also for me to get an idea of what you are looking to address. There is no pressure to proceed with hypnotherapy as a result of this conversation.

If you decide that you would like to proceed with having some hypnotherapy, I will provide you with a code to access the booking and payment section of the website.  This will enable you to make payment and book your first session.  Subsequent sessions will be booked as we progress and in accordance with what timescales we both feel are appropriate.  Some sessions may be weekly, whereas others may need more time in between sessions.

First Session:

You should allow up to 2 hours for the first session; most of this will involve me finding out about you through various questions and of course you can ask me any questions that you want to ask.

Time permitting, towards the end of the appointment we will carry out the first hypnosis, so that we can start to work on the issue that you want to address.

When going into hypnosis you will be sitting in a comfortable chair with your eyes closed, listening to me talking to you; people find the process of hypnosis pleasant, enjoyable and relaxing, often saying that they’ve never felt so relaxed and comfortable before and usually not wanting it to end!

I will record the hypnosis, which I will send to you, and this will form part of your first homework, which will be to listen to the recording on a daily basis.

Preparation for the session:

Wear clothing that you are able to feel comfortable and relaxed in.  If you wear contact lenses that you would not be able to keep in for a period of approximately 20 minutes with your eyes closed, then please bring a container and solution to enable you to remove them for the hypnosis.

Do not undertake hypnosis whilst under the influence of alcohol or any recreational drugs.

Continue to take any medication prescribed by your GP.

You will be fully alert to be able to drive or use public transport after the session.

Subsequent Sessions:

You should allow an hour to an hour and a half for subsequent sessions.  We will start by talking over your progress and changes since our last session and the outcome of the homework that you have carried out. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have or raise any points that have come to light, that have not been covered in previous sessions.

We will then carry out further hypnosis to continue to work on the issue that you want to address

How many sessions will I need?

Hypnotherapy is individualised treatment which is uniquely tailored to each person’s needs; therefore, it is not possible to say with any clarity how many sessions you will need.  On a very general basis, if you are very motivated to make the change that you want to make and you carry out all of the homework in-between sessions, then we would normally be looking at 4-6 sessions.

How much do sessions cost:

You can either pay for sessions individually as you go along or a block of either 4 or 6 sessions can be paid for at a discounted price.  All payments are due at the time of booking.  If any subsequent sessions are required, they will be charged at any initial discounted rate.  Any session(s) not required (excluding the stop smoking and weight control set programs) will be refunded as per the terms and conditions.
